CITTA

“Consciousness: where thoughts meet awareness.”

A Sanskrit word, Citta means consciousness. It refers to not only the cognitive processes and the ego, but also feelings and instinctual tendencies inherited from experiences in life.

The journal is a Sukrut India publication promoting psychoanalytic reflection. It is a response to the need to bring together various schools, practices, and clinical experiences from across the world which have applications in the context of India. Consequently, a key purpose is the advancement of psychoanalytic reflections, encompassing both the conscious and unconscious dimensions of the human psyche, at both the individual and collective.

Citta is a bi-annual publication that is a blend of real-life experiences with theoretical and conceptual frameworks in psychoanalytic explorations. It aspires to foster meaningful dialogue among practitioner-scholars operating within the spectrum of intersubjective perspectives, thereby enriching the tapestry of the psychoanalytic process. The intersubjective material could be from history, geography, economics, politics, sociology, anthropology, literature as well as the impact of sciences on our lived experiences. Of special interest are submissions that reflect India’s civilizational ethos, highlighting the tensions that surface between the lived reality in India and theory that is primarily Western. Contributions that draw on personal experience of psychoanalysis and reflective processes in identity development are welcome. It will explore commonality as well as diversity, and promises to review submissions with the professional respect that contributors deserve. Submissions will not be subjected to dispassionate editing and rigid formalities. However, the editorial team will request data-confidentiality and will edit personal attacks. Citta is committed to the integrity of its editorial team and will uphold the highest standards of review. Once a paper has been assessed for suitability, it will move towards publication.

The inaugural publication was in Summer 2023. A PDF is available on request; attached is a brief introduction.
